PROJECT BRIEF

Fannin County's new FM897 bridge, part of the North Texas Municipal Water District's $1.6 billion Bois D' Arc Lake project, opened in August 2020. This bridge is the primary north-south access route across the new reservoir and is designed to meet the water demands for a growing region of 1.8 million people through 2040. The 16,641 acre Bois d’Arc Lake is the first major reservoir in Texas in 30 years. The project includes 11 miles of state and county road including more than six miles of FM 897 roadway and bridge, three recreational boat ramp areas, and the construction of the North Texas Municipal Water District Lake Operations Center.
